InterReligious Studies Track
An InterReligious Studies perspective recognizes the distinctions between different religious and cultural traditions while promoting understanding and compassion across religious differences, and it specifically emphasizes members of various religious and cultural groups learning about one another so that they can work together not only in workplaces but also in areas of shared concern. In the InterReligious Studies track, students will get to explore the classes that engage through this InterReligious perspective, encountering multi-faith perspectives, engaging with people groups across difference, and learning more about local, regional, national, and international religious groups. The InterReligious perspective encourages the use of case studies, site visits, service learning, and other experiential learning opportunities so that members of various religious groups become personified and personalized. Rather than comparing religious traditions or flattening religious differences, the InterReligious perspective acknowledges genuine differences while helping students develop the skills needed to engage kindly and compassionately across such differences.
Students may choose to follow the non-track religion requirements or the InterReligious Studies requirement to satisfy their religion major.
