Augie Access Certificate

Mission Statement:

As an outcome based Comprehensive Post-Secondary and Transition Program, Augie Access will empower 18-26 year old adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities to become life-long learners, to obtain competitive employment, live independently, and engage socially through access to inclusive academic coursework and explicit instruction in career readiness, self-determination and employment internships.

The Comprehensive Post-Secondary program is designed to serve students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, aged 18-26, who have completed at least 4 years of high school. Inclusive post-secondary education has been shown to increase outcomes across the life-domains of employment, independently living, and socialization.

The program is housed within the School of Education, under the supervision of the Dean of the School of Education. A Program Director manages the day-to-day administration of the program and holds a teaching load within the program, a Program Coordinator coordinates essential supports for program students and staff and holds a teaching load within the program, and an Employment & Internship Specialist secures and oversees internship and employment opportunities for program participants, secures community employment partnerships, and holds no teaching load within the program.
