EDUC 3111 Writing Companion for Humans Relations with Children and Youth
This 1-credit companion course supports EDUC 3110 Human Relations in Education for students majoring in Education Studies and Special Education Studies who plan to work with children and youth in non-certification roles. The course provides structured, process-focused instruction in professional writing used in youth-serving fields, including education support, special education services, youth advocacy, nonprofit work, residential programs, and community-based organizations.
Students will draft, revise, and polish writing that integrates course concepts with evidence from readings, field experiences, and credible external sources. Writing is treated as a mode of learning and reflection through sustained drafting, feedback, revision, and polishing.
EDUC 3111 is designed to be taken concurrently with EDUC 3110. Writing topics and evidence sources draw directly from the readings, discussions, and experiential learning in the companion course.
